The Kitchen Sink

Don't worry, the kitchen sink was cleaned before and after these pictures were taken.

Brookside Gardens

Today Archer and I went to the Brookside Gardens in Silver Spring Maryland. Despite being a really hot and humid day, we had a wonderful time!

The highlights were the butterfly house (which I rate better than the one at the Natural History Museum), aquatic gardens, an azalea garden, a beautiful rose garden, and a really neat children's garden. We had lunch in one of the many gazebos and stayed for awhile to play. Archer had to change his clothes because he spilled all his food, but he likes going around without pants.

Farmer's Market

On Sunday David, Archer and I went to the Takoma Park Farmer's Market and got some good vegetables. My favorite part was the chocolate milk yogurt drink that we got for Archer.

After the Farmer's Market we had to check out the playground too.

Full Employment

Our guest writer is Daddy and he doesn't believe in child labor laws. Please read Dad's entry below.

At the end of a financially difficult 2008, the Dansby family decided we needed to try and get to full employment. Bettie was successful by landing a teaching job in just a few months, but by early July Archer had yet to find anything. I decided his resume had a gap as Archer lacked experience in an actual office setting, so over the past few weekends I have worked hard to fill in this gap. On a positive note, the boy is a quick learner and was able to field and transfer calls with ease. I think it is only a matter of time before some opportunistic employers (who happen to share my opinion on child labor laws) will take notice of this little guy's potential.

Scribbling

At Archer's doctor appointment the other day the doctor mentioned that babies around 15 months like to draw or scribble. Archer got some chalk for his birthday, so we decided to go outside yesterday morning and try it out. He definitely drew a little bit, but I really got into it. We (I) decorated the whole front sidewalk.

He's healthy!

P.S. Happy 26th Birthday Uncle Hugh!

The Grandmothers

Today we went over to Great Granny Navarin's for a trip to the park and a yummy lunch of chicken salad. All the grannies in my life (except Great Granny Blah Blah who we missed) were there to be with young Archer. I think he loved all the attention.

Archer being spoon fed eating cookies and ice cream. He had a giggling attack with Gran and then passed out on the way home.

Gran and Grandad

Archer's Gran and Grandad have been in town for about 2 weeks now. They are staying with Great Granny Navarin. We were sad Grandad had to leave today to go back to Sedona, cook himself gourmet meals and do his own laundry (not to mention taking a academic course for geniuses in Santa Fe). Grandad and Archer really enjoyed each other especially when they could drum together.

We get to keep Gran for almost another 2 weeks! That is great news for many reasons:
  1. Gran also lets us come over to Great Granny's house and have dinner every other night. We have delicious things such as spinach stuffed calamari.
  2. We go to fun new parks with Gran and she pushes Archer around in a toy car
  3. Gran knit me a new scarf
  4. Gran gives me books to read
  5. Gran buys me clothes
  6. Gran likes to give Archer baths and change him
  7. Gran bought Archer a booster seat
  8. Gran is willing to babysit for Archer anytime I need it
  9. I have a huge eye sty that Gran is helping to heal
  10. I like Gran and so does Archer

4th of July Weekend

The 4th of July weekend was a great success. David had Friday off so we headed into Arlington to spend some quality time with Gran, Grandad and Great Granny. After lunch we walked to a park that more trucks than the Building Museum. Archer loved playing in the sand with those neat new toys. We took a nap, watched Wimbledon, watched a thunderstorm, had supper and headed home. Saturday, we spent most of the day with Archer's grandparents and then pooped out back in Brookland. David and I did get to see the fireworks from our roof though, which was pretty cool.

Sunday, we saw the Nationals beat the Braves. We stayed until the seventh inning stretch and Archer loved the sky high view we had from the cheap seats. We only went to the EMT center once for a massive splinter Archer somehow aquired.

It was a wonderful 3 days! Only 4 weeks until I start back to work. Sigh. I love summer.

More Rock Box

The Rock Box that Uncle John and Aunt Mary made continues to be a huge hit. Elliot came over today to play and the boys spent almost 2 hours with the rocks. Here are some pictures of the morning play session. Archer loves the trucks that were donated from Great Granny Navarin's house.
